We hit a few bumps on the way, but made it in and are now chilling out and slowly making a home here in Spring Hill.
New things are everywhere at the house. Not the least of which is a cool new TV in our hearth room. 50 inches of High Def certainly made the first stages of the Tour pretty cool to watch. Contador did his best to put that Texan in his place in the opening TT, but Lance isn't going to lay down that easily!
We've finally been able to unpack some of our wedding gifts and put them in a location where they can be used. I just might be getting into blending up smoothies some time soon...
Lyza loves the fact that she doesn't have to go into the Silence of the Lambs basement to do the laundry and I'm enjoying a dishwasher for the first time in two years. Ahh, the joys of suburban American life. The consumerism aspect of our lives is definitely on a high level at the moment. I guess it's just the part of our life trajectory.
For me the rural location is probably the single best aspect of the house. I went out on my bike the other day and within 5 minutes I'm in the midst of rolling hills and pasture land. Also, I drink my coffee in the morning on the back porch listening to birds and not the roar of the interstate. It's a nice change! This is something I've been missing for many years and only now am I really realizing just how bad I've wanted that contact with a little nature on a daily basis. Since I'm off of work right now the bike trainer isn't even entering into my consciousness. It's good to get back to just outdoor riding, for the legs and the mind.
Dottie wasted no time making the place into her own home and is already as defensive as ever of the homestead. So far the workers and movers have taken her in good stead. She's a lot of bark and bluster, but that's about it. Still we need to work with her, are going to contact a local dog trainer, and are looking into an invisible fence to keep her in the yard when we aren't around. With the workers building another house next door this will definitely be necessary.
Welcome Home!
