The people of Nashville decided to all stock up on gas at the same time creating a shortage of gas throughout town. I think that Hurricane Ike set it off, with concerns from people that there would be a shortage. The ironic thing is that supply isn't really down, but we still have a mass shortage with 85% of the local gas stations out and long lines at the few remaining open stations.

I'm of course running on empty right now. A few days ago I was driving by a gas station wondering what the deal was and thinking there was no way I was going to wait in that line. Now the grocery-getter is basically out of commision until things settle down. Thankfully there aren't any big trips on the Berkley agenda. Looks like I've got another reason to ride the single speed mountain bike to work!
